It was great to see everyone’s smiling and singing faces at CLC on June 20th. Also nice to see tape is off the pews, as social distancing restrictions were lifted. In July we are planning activities like a car wash fundraiser for our youth on July 11th. Keep checking the announcements for details on future activities.
As you know, human interaction is important for physical, mental and spiritual health. In the movie Castaway, Tom Hanks’ character is the only survivor of a plane crash, and is washed up on a deserted island. He finds a Wilson volleyball washed up on the beach. He paints a face on it and names it Wilson. He talks to Wilson like he would a friend. When Wilson is lost at sea Hanks cries hysterically. He has lost his best friend. He was driven to the brink of insanity by the isolation.
I’m not talking to volleyballs but I have felt isolated the past few months. I think most of us have. But the restrictions have been lifted. It is time to worship like we have in the past. Singing, communion at the rail, enjoying fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ. I ask that you prayerfully consider serving our congregation by volunteering your time and talent as a video or sound board operator, greeter, usher, coffee server, just to name a few. The white board in our gathering space has contact information about how to do this. I am looking forward to seeing everyone in the coming weeks and maybe even shaking a few hands.
God’s Peace,
Bill Houseknecht, Council President
